In case you don't know what I mean, the thanos snap refers to a super hero movie “Avengers” where the villain with the simple snap of his fingers disappears to half the population.
But make no mistake, today I won't tell you about Avengers, or anything like that, today I want to talk about what it feels like to live something very similar and without special effects that have to do with fantasy films..
And if you're from Venezuela, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, I mean the Venezuelan exodus that left our country to find a better future in another..
And what I want to get to is that, how it felt, what it was like to say goodbye day after day to friends, family, neighbors and many known people without knowing if you would ever see them again, while you stayed to keep fighting to survive.. It is a very difficult feeling to describe, because the truth one always wants the best for others and leaving was the best option at that time, then you were happy and at the same time sad, that's how goodbyes became common and the emptiness was getting bigger, because although one does not believe it someone's absence changes you a lot.
I would say I had not received the hit of “you're not going to see her anymore ever” or "it will not be the same without” until one day my cousin, who is like a sister to me, wrote me a message saying “I left, did not give me time to say goodbye, I love you” I swear it was like feeling a very hard blow to the chest, an indescribable feeling, a pain very big, I couldn't stop crying wondering why we had to live this, that was already more than 3 years ago, 3 years ago I didn't embrace her and I don't share the laughing evenings with her as before, as with many family and friends more.
I could make the account with only my relatives and I assure you that more than 20 people are no longer here with us, they live in different countries looking for the best for them and I am very happy, but the holidays are not the same, especially in December when we used to share a family dinner together.
Resignation is something that has come little by little, one must continue with his life, at least we have social networks and video calls to share a while, so be it in the distance, but that emptiness, that feeling of absence does not go away.
