#howtodealwith Hi hello yo's people. I'm Alberto García and I am a coffee lover apprentice barista. Currently I work preparing coffee with a friend in a cafeteria supplies store. I am Chilean and I want to share part of my day to day.
BEHIND THE COUNTER
As a barista apprentice I must deal with the public, that is, clientele. There are many who know about coffee like others who don't know much. For me it is interesting to see the two perspectives. For those who don't know it gives me a lot of pride to be able to show and demonstrate what I have learned and to those who know my respects and my encouragement to learn and listen to their experiences.. It is very exciting for me to deal with coffee loving customers.
On the other hand is the issue of how to handle malhumorous customers hahahaha is a part that gives me laughter sometimes in my craft. There are all kinds of customers, but usually Chileans tend to be very cold and serious. Lately I have met many Venezuelan people who brought to Chile a more coffee culture (since coffee is not planted here because of the weather) and in turn a little warmth to our coldness hahaha. Some cute and affectionate girls arrive and some little less. But as customers, which is where I want to reach, they are more friendly and open than us.. I make it clear that is my point of view and I don't expect to offend anyone. As for knowing how to deal with the public (like us Chileans) I advise the following.:
*Always greet cordially. Without waiting for an answer but always with a good attitude.
*Break the ice with a question, such as: How has your day been? What is the weather today! How do you like your coffee?
*It is very important to take into account how the client asks coffee to offer the variety and go beyond what he asks.
*If the person is very serious to treat them with great respect and proper and accurate words.
*And last and not least always maintain good posture and be very attentive to what the customer demands, this makes the customer have control of the conversation and closing the sale much more effective.
I FIRMLY BELIEVE that working with customers is sometimes something stressful but seeing many smiles and faces of satisfaction when you provide good service can change ANYONE's day. Peace friends yoors! Until the next!
