The Cork and Craft San Diego: dining at beer brewery and winery
What could be more festive than romantic toasting together on your birthday? Well... dinner at a very atmospheric restaurant in 'finest city' San Diego. In your brand new dress. And bubbles plus amuse on the house upon reception. Happy birthday guaranteed!

The Cork and Craft is the first hotspot in San Diego with its own wines and a real inhouse brewery (+40 beers on tap!). It feels like you're entering a local brewery in terms of atmosphere. But do not be fooled. Chef Scott Cannon's team creates creative taste combinations of comfort food with elegantly crafted plates. Or as they say 'refined comforts'.

Still overwhelmed by the festive entrance we choose one of the comfy seating areas with leather sofas. When we look at the (literally long) drinks and menu menu, we also see an option 'Buy the kitchen a round'. Round for the team. What an original initiative. Do we do! In advance we share the gnocchi of sweet potato with fennel ricotta, sage butter and candied duck. The last one sméls on the tongue. Tom tries another Abnormal Blonde beer. After all, we are at a brewery.

One of our absolutely favorite dishes is risotto. So when I see a variation with pumpkin, beef rib and cinnamon balsamic on the menu, I feel even more yearier. For Tom, the temptation to order the same. But we always want to taste as many different dishes as possible so the New York Strip Steak with grilled broccolini, baked potato, shiitake and pear.
