But other than anime, Japan is known for its weird movies and ridiculous humor which can make or break a show or movie. House (1977)

House may seem like your generic run-of-the-mill horror movie that will provide some light scares and it's generally a huge waste of time, but that's where you are wrong. The story revolves around seven friends who start a journey throughout the countryside and up until that point, everything seems like it came out of a fairy tale. That is until they arrive at The House. The movie doesn't shy away from blood, weird scenery, and even weirder methods of killing. Although the movie may be quite old, it's still a cult classic and anyone who wishes to have a good time watching a horror movie should definitely watch this weird movie.

Marebito (2004)

Marebito is one of those horror movies that should not be watched by those who get scared easily or have some sort of illness as you may find yourself sleeping with the lights on for a month. The main plot of the movie revolves around a freelance cameraman who wishes to investigate some urban legends regarding the Tokyo subway system. What he finds in the underground is truly terrifying and the events afterward will make you terrified of stepping out of your house. The movie is very weird and creepy and you are in for one hell of a ride through the sick and twisted reality this movie presents. If you feel like there isn't enough fear in your life, this is the movie for you.

Versus (2000)

Have you ever thought how cool it would be if you were an immortal being that no matter how much you got hurt, you would always come back to life? Well, Versus takes this idea and manages to make it 1000 times more weird than what it sounds. The movie focuses on our protagonist who inside the forest is immortal and he has to help a girl he just met and slowly unravel his destiny. This movie will leave you speechless, not because of the story or characters, but because it's that weird and surprisingly enjoyable. By the end of the movie, you will feel like giving it another watch just for fun and you may have found a classic that you enjoy with all of your heart.

Tokyo Gore Police (2008)

Do you want to see an easy movie where you can just turn off your brain and just go through the movie without having to think a single time? Well, this movie is just for you then. Tokyo Gore Police is a movie about how the police force has become privatized in order to fight homicidal mutants called "engineers". Now, you may think this movie is somewhat sci-fi or maybe scientific, but you'd be wrong on both accounts. This movie is a gore fest with crazy amounts of blood and weird visuals that will make you question yourself and why you decided to watch this movie. If you want a truly terrifying experience then look no further than this movie as its visuals will remain inside your head for months to come.
