So if I understand correctly, I'm 'vintage', 😇 sounds better than 'old'. I still knew most of the stuff above well, but I don't know paper-wrapped needles.
@Rudy Siedlecki 🌳 Sewing machine needles are now in plastic packaging, but you used to buy them per five in a piece of paper that was folded around the needles.
Ha, that's what I call a good explanation. I mainly have vintage in my house, retro is not my thing. Did you know that the old-fashioned photo roll is making its comeback again? My in-house photographer said that he sells rolls again, more than in years, and is developing again. That was the real shooting, I still think. Nice post!
@Encaustichris I don't know if the hype of photographing back analogue has already flown to Belgium, haven't heard about it yet, what I do know is that a number of photographers I'm friends with had their roles developed in the Netherlands all along because it was still possible there.
in my mind, I was off in your grandmother's fabric workshop. When I saw the hangers, I was reminded of the mines. My dad's sister crocheted those cases and I've owned 3 of them. Somehow they disappeared. Potholders was also such a popular activity of hers. Delightful and relatable blog of yours!!
Also a nice explanation about the difference. Good that you saw all the beauty about your grandmother's stuff at the time. Classic car shows are fun to visit. Pure nostalgia for many. I do like the fact that something much nicer came in place for the photo roll:)
@Ingrid Tips en meer The digital camera is indeed a big improvement in photography and I still cherish my grandmother's and mom's clothes hangers. Actually, I was quite shocked by how many vintage items I have in my house.
