Jean Baptist Bloemenveld and Julia Sunrise certainly did not steal their names. For years, they have both dreamed of a garden full of flowers, plants and trees. Their ancestors, however, had jokingly chosen a crazy name during Napoleon's dominance. After all, they thought that the naming was not permanent. Their love for nature is a legacy of many of their ancestors.

Finally, the time had come. They had succeeded in knocking on the head of a picturesque house in the Ardennes. They were now able to pull out their garden plans that they had been breeding on for years and work out them down to the last detail.

Jean Baptist is quite a special figure when it comes to his choice of clothing. But, all right, Julia doesn't care about the way you dress at all. She herself is rather sluggish. The fashion is really not for either of them. Still, they both seem quite modern. Jean usually wears jeans and Julia leggings. Because you can move so wonderfully in it. They usually wear shirts or blews with a checkered pattern. Preferably in white and black. They also wear leather, lower or high bones all the time. That's what they love. In nature, they make delicious long walks every week-end.While they admire and take pictures of the little animals. Besides walking, photography is one of their hobbies. In that area, too, they look like identical twins. Yes, they found each other like a lottery ticket. Never argue either. They fit together like a lid on a jar .

Their move was only over or they deepened their gardening plans.

“We need to take a good look at our options first,” said Jean. Where do we have the most such a thing in our rectangular garden to be and where do we have half sun and shade?

All right, they're lucky. Because the sun shines abundantly over their plot in the afternoon. So they quickly figure out where the flowers that really love sunshine would come. Jean Baptist also immediately outlined where there was half shade and full shade on his garden plan. That was, of course, at the fence, behind which the wall of the neighboring house overshadowed their staff.

The couple from which they had bought the house had already provided nice garden soil. You could immediately see this in that beautiful dark color.

“We need to check the pH value,” says Julia. Then we know whether or not to sprinkle lime on the ground.Because if the value is too low, you should do it,” she notes.

“Yes,” Jean confirms her,

“a neutral pH value is around 7. Hopefully that is the case here. Because a high pH value in the soil is difficult to remedy. Then we better plant plants, flowers and trees that don't mind a less acidic soil. In the case of highly acidic soils, we plant a Rhododendro. a hydrangea, cameila and a campanula.

At a low pH value or slightly acidic soil, we plant annuals, roses and grasses, and spring bulbs and butterfly bushes”

Of course, they have reached a level to determine your pH value in the garden centers.

“A high pH is rare,” says Julia, “Since soil acidifies itself and gets a lower pH value”

Jean just nods.

They have also already picked up all the gardening tools they need to take optimal care of the garden. Like a garden shovel to make holes in the ground where you want to place or move your plants. Which also allows you to remove the weeds neatly. In addition to a watering can, they purchased a garden hose and a pruner for more economical water consumption. To prune the bushes in an optimal way in the future. To protect their hands, they also bought gardening gloves of excellent quality. After all, they want to keep their garden in perfect order.

“With a pruner, you can cut thick branches without a problem,” says Jean.

They also bought a rake. One in metal. Because Jean knew that this is the best way to do it. After all, metal gives too much. They also have a plastic rake to collect leaves. “I would also like to plant a palm tree in our garden,” suggests Jean, One near our garden table. That gives such a tropical feeling. It's like you're traveling”

“That's possible,” Julia replies,” but we should make sure it's one that's grown to thrive in a temperate maritime climate. Those exist. I read that in a book” “We then read carefully what is on the label or we ask the gardener for advice”

On the garden plan, they indicate which plants should go where. They discuss it carefully with each other. At the back of the borders, they naturally want to plant tall plants and flowers, with a bush in between here and there. Right before that, they opt for smaller plants and flowers and the smallest flowers come right at the front.

“This way, all plants have sufficient sunlight,” says Julia.

“We should also bring a garden calendar from the garden centres”, says Jean, “Here we explain exactly what we do to care for our garden during the year. Because, of course, this varies from season to season”

Everything has been carefully discussed between the two of them. The flowers, plants and shrubs outlined in their garden plan.

In good spirits with a very long list of flowers, plants and shrubs, they get into their Jeep. They drive to the garden centers, who will certainly love to see them come.

“Later, we'll add some nice trees,” says Julia, “maybe some fruit trees too. All right, we now have a very large garden. We will be able to indulge in that”

“We also get a dog from our little family. Before we have children of our own”, continues Jean Baptist, “A beast like that is super fun. He can also go for a walk in the woods”

Julia completely agrees.

With a huge 'smile' from here to there and shiny eyes of sheer happiness, they are on their way to raking in their natural loot.
