Dolphins are undoubtedly one of the most charismatic and intelligent creatures in the oceans. These marine mammals have always captivated humanity with their graceful movements, social behavior and remarkable intelligence.

External features

Dolphins have streamlined bodies that help them move efficiently through the water. They have smooth skin, usually grey with white undersides, although the colour may vary between species. They have a single blowhole on top of their head for breathing. Their teeth are conical, suitable for grasping their slippery prey.

Types and sizes

There are approximately 90 species of dolphins, divided into 17 genera. Some well-known species include the bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), the orca (Orcinus orca) and the river dolphin (Inia geoffrensis). Each species has unique characteristics and behaviors, adapted to their specific living environment.
