#whatisontvfortonight Do you sleep peacefully because you think Freddy Krueger can't catch you in your dreams? The true story that inspired the classic villain of cinema will take your dream away.
“1, 2 Freddy's coming for you. 3, 4 close the door. 5, 6 take the crucifix. 7, 8 stay awake. 9, 10 will you never sleep again,” sang the most gloomy girls in the film by Wes Craven, A Nightmare on Elm Street, in which a group of teenagers were harassed in their dreams by a terrifying villain with a burnt face and knives in their hands.
Freddy Krueger, as every good fan of horror (who is respected) knows, arrived in the world in 1984, with a film in which, from one day to the next, a group of teenagers begin to have strange dreams and visions, which are becoming more and more terrible until it reached the point where they could not sleep because of fear, which was when they became in prey of a deep sleep where he could tell the difference between nightmare and reality, and that's where Freddy attacked them, using his worst fears and phobias to kill them.
The scariest thing about Freddy Krueger's technique was that there really was no escape, his victims tried not to sleep to avoid it, but that was leaving them more and more tired and caught in the trap. They died in their sleep, which also made the rest of the world think they were crazy or depressed, and that the rest of the victims could not ask for help.
Wes Craven's film has a terrifying premise (the idea that your dreams could kill you is quite disturbing), but horror fans could rest assured knowing that none of that was real, could they?
