Ah, the year 2020. What a wild ride it was. A global pandemic, a contentious election, and, of course, the great toilet paper shortage of 2020. It was so bad, that toilet paper received it's own scientific name (TP) that we will be referring to in this article. It’s been almost two years since the great TP shortage, and yet the memories still linger. So let’s take a moment to reflect on that strange time in history.

The beginning

It all started in March of 2020. The world was starting to panic about the spread of COVID-19, and people were stocking up on supplies. At first, it was just hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes that were flying off the shelves. But then, something strange happened. Toilet paper started disappearing.

At first, people thought it was just a fluke. Maybe a few people were overreacting, and the rest of us would be able to buy toilet paper as usual. But no. The TP shortage was real, and it was spreading. Soon, it was impossible to find toilet paper in any store. People were resorting to desperate measures, like stealing TP from public restrooms and asking friends to share their stash.

The desperation

The situation was dire, and people were starting to panic. Memes started popping up on social media, mocking the ridiculousness of the situation. People were hoarding toilet paper like it was a precious commodity. Meanwhile, those of us who had already stocked up were feeling pretty smug. We were the ones who had the foresight to prepare for a disaster like this.
