The greatness of a piper.

On the streets of Maracaibo, in the 60s. One could hear a unique personality sing, his name was Ricardo Aguirre, the iconic piece of our beloved Zuliana bagpipe.

Ricardo was a singer, songwriter, musician, teacher and many other things.

He is recognized nationally as the “Monumental” title he acquired with his brilliant career, also nicknamed the father of the bagpipe.

His most celebrated work was in composing the beloved hymn of the bagpipe called “La grey Zuliana”, a work that is still listened to today with great affection and fervor. Most of all at Christmas time.

Excellent artist who has left an indelible mark on the hearts of each of the Zulians, lovers of the good genre of gaita.
