How international news sometimes gets very local. and back international.
A lot of people may remember the hopping girl
Belgium airport after being evacuated from Afghanistan with her parents
after the Taliban came back to power. This almost iconic photo exuded so much hope and relief. and touched many people right in the heart.
Locally, this became news for me, when it turned out that this little girl lives in that beautiful
village on the Maas where I also live.
A Flemish writer was also touched by this and used this photo as a sketch for her cover of her latest booklet. However, the booklet is not about refugees or war, but just about what it takes to feel good. and that that's not always material stuff. Punishment is that when finishing the sketch in the summer, a yellow pants and blue shirt were chosen. Unfortunately today very symbolically the colors of Ukraine.
That's how the circle is back and you can see that local news isn't always so local. the world is really getting smaller due to technology. now even more peaceful.

What a great story. And such a surprise twist in the end. What are the odds of living in the same area? Thanks for sharing that. Now that I have left Germany I am missing out on certain infos.
