The Last Message Entry in: Write a Short Mystery Story with a Plot Twist
Detective Ryan Carter tapped his pen against his notepad, staring at the last message on the victim’s phone:
"It wasn’t an accident. Meet me at midnight."
Midnight had come and gone, and now Michael Langston lay dead in his apartment, his body sprawled across the wooden floor. No signs of forced entry. No signs of a struggle. Just a shattered glass of whiskey and a half-written letter on his desk.
Ryan sighed. This case was messy. Michael, a journalist, had been investigating a powerful politician, Senator Harold Greaves, for corruption. His exposé was supposed to come out next week—if he had lived to publish it.
