The legend of Silbon

El Silbón is the story of a spoiled young man, who was consented by his parents without greater knowledge of the word respect, so much so that one day he wanted to eat “roast”, which is equal to liver, heart and bofe, which is why the father decides to take his shotgun out of the house as a hunt plan. The son tired of so much waiting for whom late at night did not arrive yet, goes looking for his father shotgun in hand, after walking on the plain he manages to see him at last but what would be his surprise? That his father had not succeeded in satisfying his craving, which is why he decided without any choice to kill his parent in order to remove the visors and take them to his mother to be cooked, not without first putting the bones of the corpse in a small sack.



The lady tried to prepare the visors for her son, but when she questioned the delay of her husband and the strange thing about the “roasts”, she begins to question the boy, who confesses his sin, being cursed “pa 'la vida”, trying to flee from the place is persecuted by his brother Juan who sounded a chili pepper cap and “cast” a dog by name” Tureco”, animal that accompanies him until the end of time by biting his heels.



There is also another version, the previous one being the most popular, however in this one somewhat different but with a similar ending is the story of a boy enraged by the betrayal of his father, a character who killed his son in an attack of fury, so the son in an attack of fury ends up killing his father in revenge for such ingratitude. Upon learning the fact, grandfather sent the young man to be attached to a wooden pole in the middle of the plain and then destroy his back with lashes, washing his wounds with boiling water and releasing them together with two rabid and hungry dogs but before all this cursed him and condemned him to carry his father's bones for the rest of eternity.



The whistle lives in Venezuelan Los Llanos, wandering through its lands in summer, collecting dust in his hands and putting it in his sack, in winter, which wandering soul wanders with a thirst for death, added to the immense pleasure that causes him to punish drunkards, vagabonds and womanizers, including one or another innocent victim in its long list. It is also said that El Silbon usually appears in houses sitting and counting the bones, if more than one person hears him whistling nothing will happen but if not heard for sure one of the inhabitants of the house will not wake up again.



Its whistle is characteristic, those who have had the opportunity to see it or hear it say that when it is perceived close it is because there is no danger but must be cautious to anyone who listens to it far because the whistling is sure to believe it and with it death is undeniable, for the protection of the persecuted one recommend the use of chili pepper or the barking a dog, because nothing frightens him more than remembering his past.
