Leopards are one of the most iconic and celebrated big cats in the world. With their slim body and beautiful spotted coat, they are both imposing and elegant. But how well do we really know these impressive predators? Let's take a deeper dive into the world of leopards, their physical characteristics, behaviors, habitats, and more.

Difference between leopard and jaguar

A leopard (Panthera pardus) can be recognized by its streamlined body, short legs and, above all, by its beautiful spotted coat. The spots, also known as rosettes, are rosette-shaped patterns that are distinguished from the spots of a jaguar by their smaller size and lack of a central dot.

Jaguar spots often have a dot in the middle of the rosettes, while leopard spots usually don't have it. Leopards are usually slightly smaller and slimmer than jaguars, weighing between 30 and 90 kilograms. Their length, from head to tail, ranges from 15 to 2 meters.
