External features

Lions are big and muscular, with short-jointed, sand-colored fur. Males are recognisable by their impressive manes, which range from blonde to black. These moons not only serve as protection during combat, but also as a status symbol that emphasizes their strength and dominance. Females have no manes, which gives them a slimmer and streamlined appearance.

An adult male lion can weigh up to 250 kilograms and reach a length of almost 3 meters from head to tail. Females are slightly smaller and weigh up to 180 kilograms. Lions have sharp claws and teeth that are ideal for hunting prey.
