Everyone knows the pansy. It is a beautiful flower that you also see popping up in the kitchen more often. Violin syrup is regularly used in desserts and you can also see the petals pop up quite regularly in salads. As a child, I was fond of the purple flower treats myself.

But you can also use this flower medicinally for certain mild complaints. Of course, with serious or prolonged complaints, you should always consult a doctor.

All violets are edible and can therefore be used in the kitchen. The Maarts violet and Tricolor violet, however, also have medicinal effects. In combination with other herbs, the Maarts violet is ideal for respiratory diseases. so a cough drink is often made out of.

Violets are also ideal for treating all kinds of skin conditions such as acne, eczema,. . One can do this by pulling and drinking a tea from the petals. This may also be drunk by nursing mothers in order to treat milk crusts in the baby. You can also make a lotion out of it and rub it on the spot itself. However, the complaints can first worsen temporarily instead of improving. That is why I would personally not apply it to small children.

As adults, you can also use this tea as a natural aspirin, due to the analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties of this plant. With children, caution is again needed here.

Drinking violet tea regularly also ensures good expulsion of waste. Urine output is increasing, although I have to mention that it is also going to smell strong. but that's not abnormal.

You can make oil from violets very easily. Place a handful of violin petals in a pure jar and pour oil over it. This can be any edible oil, preferably cold pressed, but personally I prefer to work with almond oil. Let this rest for 3 to 4 weeks in a dark place. Then strain the oil and you have your own violet oil.
Very beautiful and decorative is making ice cubes with violin petals inside. Great for a cocktail or children's drink. You can also process the leaves in a salad. Feel free to search the internet, there you will find countless great recipes and ideas.

A special flower, the violet.
