The Plantin-Moretus Museum
In the 16th century, plantin had a huge building in Antwerp placed on the Vrijdagmarkt.
It looks like a palace with lots of small and large rooms. A garden has also been built in the middle of the building.
The printer's studio was inaugurated in 1580 and was, of course, the most important part of the building. Around 1575, there were 16 printing presses in another less luxurious building. They are: The two elders of them no longer work. But the 14 others are still deployable. At that time, the machines were mechanically built and almost indestructible.
Sometimes there is a man in the museum who gives a demonstration with one of these robust printing presses.
From 1580, Plantin had a workforce of 56 people. 32 printers, 2 typesetters, 3 proofreaders and an unqualified worker.
