However, the original story comes from an ancient and chilling account of his hometown: the County of Hampshire, in the United Kingdom.

The story goes that on the outskirts of Hampshire there lived an old woman with her newborn granddaughter. Her son and daughter-in-law had lost their lives in a terrible fire and the little girl had survived by a miracle.

Time passed and the girl was never seen going out to play. Her grandmother kept her locked up and wouldn't let anyone near the house, so she was nicknamed 'The Bad Mother'.

So much mystery aroused the curiosity of several of the children of the village who, in a challenge of courage, decided to wait until the night to enter the mansion and meet the mysterious girl.

But when they entered, they found no indication that a girl lived there, no clothes, no toys, all they found was a crib.

Inside, they found the corpse of a baby, almost completely burned, with buttons in the place where the eyes should go and seams where the mouth would have previously been.
