Neighborhood clubs keep unforgettable stories, such as the one that occurred in Paraguay in 1957. During a game at the General Genes club, defender Fidel Trigo accidentally shot down a single-engine plane with a ball while it was flying low over the playing field.
The impact caused a stampede among the public, players and referees, who rushed to see the outcome. The ball hit the plane's propeller, causing the engine cover to come off and fall onto the court, while the aircraft crashed.

Fortunately, the pilot and his co-pilot were unharmed, and they went to Trigo's house to calm him down. Despite the incident, the player was half traumatized, while Ña Josefa, Fidel's mother, was ready to defend Trigo with a broom, as she feared that they would take him prisoner.

The ball used was an orange-colored Brazilian one, which, although not too heavy, was known for its powerful headbutts.
