The trap of Hephaestus
Hephaestus was married to Aphrodite. However, the two did not fit together at all, and she constantly deceived him with Ares, the god of war. Aphrodite did not make the slightest effort to keep her affair hidden, so Hephaestus had to avenge herself on her. When Ares and Aphrodite spent their nights together, they put the young servant Alectryon at the door. One time, he fell asleep and they were caught by Apollo, who arrived at Olympus in the early days. He informed Hepheastus of what he had seen.
Ares, who himself was displeased with the fall asleep of his servant, avenged himself on Alectryon by turning him into a cock. Since then, at dawn, he has heard his complainant scream.

Meanwhile, the angry and humiliated Hepheastus had gone to work on Lemnos himself. He forged a magical net with a hidden spring and hung it over his wife's bed. When the couple dared another night full of passion, they put the net of Hephaestus into operation. The net fell on their naked bodies and entangled them. They were caught red-handed, but Hephaestus didn't go far enough.. He wanted the other gods to see how his wife deceived and humiliated him and brought them all together in the room to see the scene.
However, his laborious joke did not run as he had hoped. Aphrodite was so beautiful that the gods were more inclined with her than against her. The same for Ares, who they envy rather than rebuked. Thus Hepaestus remained hurt and left alone in his workshop.
