The Troy Horse?
#vakantie 😍 The Trojan horse is one of the most famous tales from the Greek #mythologie . It tells how sieged Greeks managed to penetrate Troy by hiding in a giant wooden horse, brought by the unsuspecting inhabitants of Troy within the city walls. By extension, it represents a desired thing that is brought in somewhere, but in which an unwanted load is hidden. The recipients are unfaithfully accomplishing their own demise. A well-known example of Dutch history is the peat ship of Breda.
It's not that crazy: this horse is standing in the front yard of #Partycentrum Kleinbank 😍 Klein Oever, an idyllic place on the border of Drenthe and Overijssel, located in the beautiful Reestdal.

An interesting bit of information: some historians/archaeologists have come up with different explanations for the actual truth behind the Trojan horse. One of my favourites, because it is very poetic, is based on the theory that the Trojan horse actually symbolises an earthquake. This is because there is evidence that earthquakes did occur during that historical period, and Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea, was also the god of earthquakes. Earthquakes and tsunamis were a way for the god to express his rage. And the animal associated with Poseidon was... the horse. 🙂
