This afternoon while I was reading the book 1001 Why? Edition of the newspaper La Verdad. Find this valuable structure on the Great Wall of China.

It was built and rebuilt between the 5th century BC. C. and the 16th century, to protect the northern border of the Chinese Empire during successive imperial dynasties from Mongolian attacks.

It has been declared a World Heritage Site since 1987,

It is said that this magnificent infrastructure work was built approximately between the 5th century BC. C y XVI.

It is a unique work in its style and is 21,200 kilometers long, although only a small part of it has been preserved in good condition. The average height is 6-7 meters and between 4 and 5 meters wide. It was created with the purpose of defending North China.

Construction involved master builders, stonemasons and masons, as well as prisoners of war and convicts who had to serve their sentence.

Along the entire wall, tall watchtowers were built, at a distance of approximately 800 meters between them. When there was danger, they communicated with smoke signals during the day and with firelight at night.

The Chinese Wall had numerous service doors, very narrow, through which barely fit a horse, in order to be easily defensible.

On January 26, 2007, the Chinese Wall was chosen as one of the winners in the list of The New Seven Wonders of the Modern World.
