The Woman of Pilate is a musical narrative. A performance with one storyteller and classical and improvising musicians who together bring to life an unknown witness to the condemnation of Jesus of Nazareth. The lyrics are by Imme Dros and the music of Monteverdi, Strozzi, Dowland, Purcell, Bach, Miles Davis, Thijs Breasts and Jeroen Zijlstra.

The suffering story through her eyes
In the story of suffering she is an underexposed character: the wife of Pontius Pilate, the Roman prefect of Judea. After a dream, she asks her husband not to extradite Jesus to the Jews. Who is this woman and what moved her to this request?

The Woman of Pilate, the powerful monologue of Ime Dros, is supported, supplemented and commented by old and new music in a surprising theatre performance. The musical narrative sheds light on this intriguing extra from history with classical music, trifle and improvisation.

Told by Dieuwertje Blok with Thijs Breasts on piano. Henriette Feith, soprano. Jeroen Zijlstra, trumpet and vocals, David van Ooijen on theorbe and Jasper Somsen on double bass.
