Tiny Forest Piping Forest

On Monday 14 March, the municipality of Dongen, together with a number of companies and pupils from two primary schools in our district, built a tiny forrest in the Schuttersveld park.  

The children were allowed to come up with a name and that became: Het Biezenbos. 
In addition to being a lovely place for butterflies, birds, bees and other mammals. Can the children also find a natural place to do school work here.

A Tiny Forest is a dense, native forest of at least 200m2 and contains 600 trees of 36 native species in it. A mini forest brings many benefits. This reduces heat stress: one healthy tree provides the cooling capacity of approximately 10 air conditioners! It also provides air purification and one adult tree can store up to 8,000 liters of water. An outdoor area has also been built near the Tiny Forest. Children learn about Dutch nature and meet in a pleasant and healthy place.

More than 150 Tiny forrests have already been installed in the Netherlands and Dongen now has 2.

I regularly walk past it with our dogs and watch it grow. I'm curious when the trees will grow a little bigger, what the whole thing will look like.
