I like to let the kids go home with a gift after a children's party because I think it's important that my children learn to say “thank you”. And I like to make something myself, which is more personal than going to the store quickly and buying something plus that you can make such a gift suitable for the theme of the party or with the child that matters. An additional advantage is that I immediately teach them to look at things differently and to familiarize them with the idea of reuse.

You can also make these pots as a storage pot for a children's room, desk or for the kitchen (I'll name just something). If you want to make an adult version, use fruit made of plastic or wood. It is also nice to use a duckling or a hare at Easter, or a Christmas figure. Save souvenirs? Buy in the holiday country a nice little figure (Eiffel turrets e.g. if you have been to France) and paste it on it. You could use the jar as a picture frame, holiday photo in it and ready! Take a look in a recycled shop for little stuff you could use and don't forget to fattening out your cabinets. You will be surprised how many “troop” you have in it that you can use.
