At the beginning of this year I published a blog, called "The 5 best Cyber Security Certifications to enhance your Career in 2017. Two interesting things happened. On the one hand it got over 2.500 views, 330 likes, 35 shares and a couple of compliments on social media. On the other hand the blog was criticized by a number of Security Specialists who thought mentioned certifications definitely were not the best ones. One of the reactions, for example, was: " Golly CEH in the top 5? What about OSCP? Isn't CEH turning into a bit of a joke in the industry?" I felt the urge to analyse this result and to write a second blog about Security Certifications.

 

Two important factors came to mind. The first one was that the Security Certifications were selected based on salary and demand in the market. And the second one that Security is a broad field, ranging from risk awareness, incident management, forensic services and physical security to secure engineering, penetration testing, ethical hacking and red teaming.
