The proposal for a 'trans-law' clashes with the rules of sport.

International federations, led by the Olympic Committee, set limits to allow transgender women to participate in the female category.

The Superior Sports Council does not want to enter into assessing the effects on competition and sports practice that the future Law for real and effective equality of trans people may have until its paragraphs are nothing more than a draft, and it is understood the prudence of the department chaired by Irene Lozano.

Since the decision to involve trans persons over 16 years of age is in construence with the regulations of all international federations that are based on the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee, which require a number of conditions for men to transition to women.

It could be the case that a trans woman proclaimed herself a champion of Spain in a sport and that she was prohibited from participating in international competitions, in which the search for equality between participants to ensure fair competition is the first objective.

In international tournaments, direct sex verification was no longer practiced, which also prohibits the draft law was based on visual examination, and until 2004 trans women who wanted to participate in the Olympic Games were required both hormone therapy and surgery to remove external sexual attributes; then the study of chromosomes, more discreet, but also conducive to error, as there were athletes with male chromosomes who, however, had not benefited from the rise of testosterone, because they were insensitive.

The latest IOC regulation, which already eliminates the need for surgical operations, stipulates that anyone who wants to participate as a woman must declare themselves a woman, and cannot change gender for at least four years for sports.
