Travel blog day 12: Beli and Vodice: spotting vultures.
Our first impression of the island of Cres is that it is mostly untouched:
Extensive forests that cover the flanks of the hills.
All over the island, sheep walk freely through the woods. You also see them regularly on the road. That is why there are danger signs, just like we have danger signs for deer crossing.
False vultures slowly circle over those hills, looking for the carcasses of those same sheep.
And every now and then, you have a village or town, like Beli.

Beli is one of the oldest remote mountain villages.
Remains of a hill fort dating back to over 1000 years BC have been found.
The Romans built a settlement here.
