#yoorsjanuary2021
It was -30 degrees, the snow was swirling over my head, and I was stiffened in the sled. All the children, including me, began to cry. It was freezing cold, the dogs were barking, and we, who just came from the warm Netherlands, we were sitting there. . .
We were told that the ride would not last much longer than half an hour, but the opposite was proved. More than an hour we sat in the sleigh. There was a beautiful view, but no one focused on it. Everyone was focused on the astonishingly cold temperature.
When it seemed to be an eternity later to us, we saw the small, rickety hut reappear. Almost everyone was happy. It felt as if we had to swim across a canal, were exhausted, but then we realized that the quay wasn't even so far away anymore..
Later it turned out to be a miscommunication, so we spent longer in the sleigh. But when we were sitting around a fire the same night, you didn't hear anyone complaining. Some people thought it was funny what happened afterwards.. It turned out that a reindeer came by, only two of us had noticed.
When I woke up the next day at the hotel, and I shoved the curtains aside, I saw the snow lying on the street. I wanted to get out right away! That's what I did as soon as possible. I think I set a record that day with the speed with which I got rid of my sandwich. All I had to do was wear a really thick suit, and then I could get into the snow.
We were in a travel van on our way to “the next activity” that's all my parents told me. My eyes always went from the beautiful landscape, to the phone of the girl sitting next to me.
Once arrived at the cosy log cabin, I saw a dozen skis standing. I was so excited. And yes, after having had a warm cup of tea, we stood there, on our skis. We went cross-country skiing.
“Cross-country skiing is different from skiing,” my mother said. “Cross-country skiing not only does you go down hills, but also on the straights and climb up the hills. ” That didn't matter to me so much. I was just really excited about it..
My mother, my father, me, and another woman stayed together. In the beginning it was a bit difficult, but soon we started to master it! Up hill, down hill. I could really enjoy it. Everything went so well, well. . .
After a few minutes, we slowly found out that we had lost the rest of the group. “I think we're lost,” my mother said. The other woman, who had also come with us, had to laugh a little “this is quite silly” she said. I thought it was exciting, but I didn't find it a disaster, because I knew my father had his phone with him. And if he had no reach, it wouldn't have been a problem either, because in the distance I saw some houses standing. We decided to return. In the hope that we would get back on the path. . .
