Twelve years after the maternity tears
Maternity tears
She is already twelve years old, my big daughter. For weeks, Dunya has been saying she's twelve because “that's just what it feels like”. She still often asks about stories from when she was born. About dad who was there and Roosmarijn who got to dress her first. The first few days were tough, I missed the pink cloud that people always talk about. The postpartum period was associated with intense fatigue after the caesarean section and a lot of stress. So many women have a baby every day, so I didn't turn my hand around that, I thought. But it turned out not to be that simple. The tears I shed from the third day kept flowing that first year. But despite all the maternity tears, I was very happy. A girl! What more could you want? Twelve years after the maternity tears, I still have that feeling. So nice that I have a daughter.
