Unknown Makes Unloved: Streaming Music with Bandcamp
Spotify is unprecedented but there are multiple music platforms, Deezer, Apple, Music, Tidal, Google Play Music, Napster and JUKE. Not yet mentioned in this list is Bandcamp
Bandcamp has always been there for the 'indies', whether they are individual artists or small labels involved. It comes from music scenes with frayed edges and makes it easy to sell music and merchandise. Now that artists can't or hardly perform in venues, they switch to live streaming. This can never be a substitute in experience, but at least it is possible.
Bandcamp is not a substitute for Spotify, that service is the mass player and therefore also important, but Bandcamp is a damn sympathetic club. And you can also reach artists and their followers directly via Bandcamp.
Which streaming service is the best way to listen to music for free?
Can you go a lot of ways, but is indeed a kind of factory.
