Unknown: Steve Cropper
Guitarist Steve Cropper feels the soul to his bones. As a guitarist and producer, Steve Cropper was the hub of the Saxlabel. He achieved successes with Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and his band Booker T & the M.G.'s. With a new album, Cropper (79) fires a fire under the old groove.
During the lockdown, he recorded Fire it Up, marketed by his record company as his “first decent solo album since 1969.”. Cropper is now a firm, grey, half-balding man who hopes to be 80 years later in October. He hails from the state of Missouri, lived for a long time in Memphis and later in Los Angeles and is called to be one of the biggest, still living guitarists; a man who played with the world and who was producer, arranger, sounding board and friend of many musical greatness. In 1969 the instrumental With a Little Help from my Friends appeared.
