Unrest about Donkerplas: Chapter 23
Yuki forgets her pain. She knew she wasn't seriously injured and she might feel very stiff and sore tomorrow, but her thoughts were with Rolf. She didn't see him move. With a scared heart, she walked to him on a rough trip and examined the wolf with her face.
With a slight whine, Rolf showed that he could still be counted among the living. Yuki licked his wounds clean, but it took a long time before Rolf moved gently again and tried to take a few steps wrong. A lot of pain shot through his front legs, which had absorbed the shock. He thought at least one was broken, the second maybe not. It would be fine with time.
Kraker had barely bothered the couple in love. He rubbed his hands because he had just found the dragon's greatest treasure. An immense number of precious stones were shining in one of the cavern where Fnar had taken his last breath. He would have a lot of work to transfer them to Woudheuvel and more work to catalog them all. He stopped looking back at the monster lying dead behind him.
Finally, together with Kraker, they reached their home in Woudheuvel after a very difficult journey. Master Boehoe welcomed them with all the splendour that came to the saviors of the forest. Everyone was gathered and wanted to hear the details of their adventure. When Master Boehoe heard from Yuki and Rolf how the fork really worked and that Kraker had killed the dragon, a smile played around his beak. He was right to send the squirrel Kraker after Yuki and Rolf.
He also had good news for the rescuers of Woudheuvel and Donkerplas. “I just received a message from Falco and the flying brigade who have been exploring the place where you entered the dragon cave. The people picked up their samples and stopped their work. Then another group of people arrived when you were already returning home. They started planting new trees instead of those that had been destroyed. After all, there are still people who have some common sense, I would not have dared to think so. End well, all good”
