Vegans, What they eat
Vegan has now become a popular fashion among people. The term “vegan” was developed in 1944, by a small vegetarian group that split from the Leicester Vegetarian Society in England and formed the Vegan Society. They prefer not to eat milk, eggs, or any other animal products, in addition to not eating meat. The word “vegan” was selected by combining the first and last letters of word vegetarian. Veganism is currently described as a way of life that seeks to eliminate all forms of animal abuse and cruelty, be it food, clothing, or any other purpose.
Vegans usually prefer to avoid animal products for the following reasons.
Code of conduct
Vegans strongly believe that every creature has the right to life and liberty. Therefore, they are opposed to taking the life of animals to eat its meat, drink its milk, or wear its skin. They consider that it is ethically wrong especially because there are other alternatives available. Vegans also resist the stress of mind and body that animals may suffer as a result of modern farming practices.
Health
Some people want to be vegan because of its potential health benefits. For example, a plant- based diet effectively lowers the risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and other disorders like Alzheimer’s disease. studies shows that people who are vegan or start vegan diets have low body mass index (BMI). Some people become vegan and adopt vegetarian diet to lose weight.
