Halloween has its origin in a Celtic holiday known as Samhain, the end of the harvest season was celebrated and the ancient Celts believed that the line linking this world to the other narrowed with the arrival of this date, allowing the spirits to pass through both.

This Anglo-Saxon celebration came to Latin America due to globalization and Venezuela was no exception, here the costumes and the typical monsters of classic horror films were adopted, but our country is rich in its own range of mystical creatures within its tales and legends; characters born from the bowels of our imagination popular.

Venezuelan mythology has its origin in African, indigenous, European cultures and also the Catholic religion has made its mythical contributions. These beliefs allow the birth of supernatural beings who roam on lonely nights through our Andes, Plains, Jungles and Coasts. Here are three samples of our monsters of national folklore.

The Cereton

It is the Venezuelan spirit par excellence, also called the elf “sobador”. It is a tiny creature that is commonly found between the Lara and Falcon states. This one chases pretty girls with whispers and scratches.

La Loca de Ejido

Legend has it that in a hacienda in the old town of Ejido, Méridavivivivivio Lorenzo, a twenty-year-old boy, who on his father's death became the heir to all his Bienes.es a legend of love, death, madness and disappointment.

The Whistle

He is a legendary figure of Venezuela, especially from Los Llanos, is described as a soul in pain, the legend of the Silbón emerged in the mid-19th century and until today according to the inhabitants of the savanna whistles through the plains.
