Past - Expired?

In a sooner blog I described a Saturday morning with a Sunday rush. The #ParkRun motivation, #Zuiderpark the decor. Started with a good feeling and brightly crossed the line. Drawn a PR, but it turned out later when I got the results faced. At 24'49 under five per kilometer and therefore very satisfied and rightly so. If, three days later, my PR also dies by half at 1:47 - with 5'06 as the pace - it shocks you that past returns are no guarantee for the future. Back in time, anyway.

This week, the schedule starts to prepare for the #marathon from Lisbon. A total of 220 more days of excitement. Including that week, I have now been training continuously for 135 weeks, with an average of 4 training sessions per week. Progression is occasionally stagnating, but there is hardly any relapse. Through documentation, including photographing beautiful running locations, keeping track of my diet and recording runs, I am happy to look back because I understand what motivates me. Persistence motivates. One motivates. Motivation motivates.

Taking the lead again, a leap into the shallow unconscious. The perfunctory test runs, excruciatingly slow pace and under-hour runs, cheap runs, all things considered. There is no zero point, just an -measurement. You have to start somewhere, even if you've been at it for a long time. Reset, over and close. Where there is a will, there is a way and I want to walk it.

One motivates. The love of my life. Reluctantly start exercising due to some obesity. Fifteen plus years of inseparable, side by side and me. Not a competitive type, quite fanatical. Boulders beastly, swims like a fish and runs around flawlessly. First with Evy, now out for zombies.

One thing leads to another. Total support, skates along with my interval, catches up with me at the finish line and admires important moves. A combination of circumstances means that we made the winter tour our winter trip, take the Vliet four-legged or appear as a pair on location, at home (Burgh-Haamstede, Terschelling, Noordwijk) and abroad (Athens, Florence, New York) - with results!
