Walk to walk
Just last night #marathon entered as an inspiration on Google. One, two, three clicks later, I'm on a forum where starting ticket owners offer their number for sale. Once upon a time, they intended to participate and, for reasons unknown (sobered, injured, illness or personal circumstances), they refrain from doing so. Of the most beautiful, the one in Rotterdam in this case.
Portugal at the beginning of October and Rotterdam in mid-April as an early warm-up? It is possible. Physically, sure, mentally, it should work. Forging two half plans into one and excluding some uncertain factors. An amazingly beautiful test moment at the same time, just to see how your legs are doing. Moreover, a home game, in familiar territory, and number eleven there, is also very special.
In terms of decoration, there is some difference. April will be a bit cooler in the Netherlands than October on the Atlantic Ocean, the time of start is also different, that's why. The advantage of registering for three weeks is that there is not enough time to drive you crazy.
This morning, after swimming, I thought I would first ask for time off for the Sunday in question. Perhaps a colleague has already planned something and I'm not in the mood for crooked faces, especially since the rinse in our team is rather thin. Contradictory, because just noticing the marketplace stimulated me so much that I almost wanted to get my stuff ready for the run in Rotterdam.
One third of the outcome is predictable; either I'm running the race of a lifetime and can't even get close to it in Lisbon, or I'll run a mile out of seven and still have a lot of work to do before I board a plane to Portugal. The most pleasant thing would be for the port city to provide me with the information I need to shine six months later. Starting speed, intervals, pace adjustments, but especially food, gels and drinks. The intended shoes, coffee, it also listens closely to music and then there is the ultimate goal. Am I going here for the time I want to walk in October, or should I just let that run its course? More later.
