Walking on the Empese and Tondense heathlands

Near Empe en Tonde (Gelderland), you will find a beautiful nature reserve with fens and grassland. We walked there in the autumn, on a surprisingly beautiful day! In spring and summer, it is perhaps even nicer, with lots of flowers, insects and frogs and salamanders and lizards.

The area has been purchased by Natuurmonumenten to prevent further exploitation of the area. It is a large area with fens and special grassland with rare flowers!

The area can be very wet, decks have been built to walk between the fens. In general, I really like decking paths! At some points, it can even be useful to wear boots.

In spring and summer, rare flowers such as the Spanish Horseman and the Spotted Orchis bloom in this area.

Some parts of the Cornflowers also turn blue.
