Saying you is less common than before
It often strikes me how easy people tell you and you to (other) adults they don't know. I admit that I also tend to be guilty of it, but I try to say as much to you as I can to people I don't know.
I was raised with the idea that I should be polite to people and tell you to my grandparents. I have always done this and now I believe that it is just a courtesy word, which we have to honour..Â

Ik ben ook opgevoed in het u-tijdperk, en de verschuiving naar je, jij, jou valt inderdaad op.
Ik denk echter dat het een vergissing is om het je en jij zonder meer te associëren met onbeleefdheid. Beleefdheid en respect zit in veel meer dan de aanspreekvorm alleen.
