What are nozems?
Because after the war prosperity grew, in the 1960s, a lot changed in the Netherlands. The young people thought their parents were old-fashioned and all sorts of new ideas came through the radio and television. The young people were against everything. Girls began to wear mini skirts, and they also wore trousers more and more often. The boys bought jeans and jeans jackets. The parents didn't like that. Also, the boys grew their hair.
Certain young people behaved very differently and dressed differently. They were called NOZEMS. They had a fat crest, like Elvis Presley, wearing leather jackets and pale jeans. And they also had great point boots.
Since almost all of them worked for their own money, they had money to buy a moped. For example, a Kreidler, or a Zundapp.
