What is vertigo?
vertigo is a sentiment of feeling off-balance. If you have these dizzy moments, you might feel like you are spinning or that the world around you is spinning. It can happen when a person looks down from a tall building, but it is often referred to as a temporary spell of dizziness That results due to a problem in the inner ear or brain.

The term "vertigo" is a symptom and not an illness that can happen at any age but mostly occurs from the age of 65 and above. It normally occurs during pregnancy and when there are ear infections, people suffering from Meniere disease also experience it.

Several factors can result in vertigo, either imbalance of the inner ear or problems associated with the central nervous system. Here are some factors that trigger vertigo;

Causes of vertigo

1. vestibular neuritis

Vestibular neuritis is the inflammation of the vestibular nerve which is normally caused by an infection. It is similar to an ear infection known as labyrinthitis but it doesn't affect someone's hearing. Vestibular neuritis does not only cause vertigo, it accompanies nausea and blurred vision.

2. Meniere's disease

This is the accumulation of fluid in the inner ear, which can lead to the attack of vertigo and the sensation of ringing in the ear which may result in hearing loss. Research suggests that it's genetic (it's inheritable) but the exact cause is unclear.

3. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).

A person suffering from labyrinthitis may also experience hearing loss, tinnitus, And blurred vision.

Symptoms of vertigo

Although a person with vertigo normally feels their head or space around them is spinning, but other symptoms occur alongside;
