What Do Haemorrhoids Look Like?

Hemorrhoids are also called piles and happen when clusters of veins found in your rectum or anus get swollen and dilated. Once the veins are swollen, they make the blood pool in them, making the veins expand outwards, causing pain. Hemorrhoids are never always visible, but when are large, they can look like red or discolored bumps around your anal area. Prolapsed hemorrhoids look like swollen red lumps or bumps around your anus. They can be internal or external. You can use the mirror to examine them better. In most cases, proposed hemorrhoids may cause itchiness, pain, and burning. The symptoms may go unnoticed sometimes. According to research, less than 5% of people suffering from hemorrhoids show signs and symptoms. According to research, at least 3 out of 4 adults will get hemorrhoids at some point in their lives.



What are Types of Haemorrhoids?
●    Internal Haemorrhoids- These are mostly found inside the rectum. They are not always seen as they are hidden deep inside the rectum. Are never serious and dissolve on their own. They don't cause pain and this explains why many people have internal hemorrhoids but are not aware.
●    External Haemorrhoids-they occurs on your anus directly on the surface of where feces pass. Are sometimes seen as lumps in the anal region.
●    Prolapsed Haemorrhoids-these occurs when internal hemorrhoids swell and stick out of your anus. In most cases, doctors grade prolapsed hemorrhoids in grades, depending on how severe they appear to be.
➢    Grade 1: These are not prolapsed at all.
➢    Grade 2: These hemorrhoids are already prolapsed but can retract by themselves back to normal. They only prolapse when one exerts a lot of pressure in the rectal area. For example, when someone is having constipation.
➢    Grade 3: They are already prolapsed hemorrhoids and cannot go back to the rectum unless you push them with your hands.
➢    Grade 4: These are extremely prolapsed hemorrhoids and cannot be pushed back due to pain.
●    Thrombosed Haemorrhoids-they contains clots of blood and may appear as swollen lumps around the anal area. When hemorrhoids are not properly treated, they complicate and become thrombosed.



What are the causes of hemorrhoids?
Any activity that puts pressure on the anal region can cause hemorrhoids, causing the veins to dilate. These activities are:
●    Sitting for a long time
●    Constipation or diarrhea that makes someone strain, hence irritating the anal area.
●    Failure of having regular bowel movements.
●    Being overweight as too much weight adds pressure to your abdomen.
●    Not having enough fiber in your diet, which gives you constipation.
●    Being pregnant or giving birth.
●    Old age because the tissues lose their strength and elasticity at one age.




What are the Home Remedies of Haemorrhoids?
Haemorrhoid treatment may vary depending on the type, degree of prolapse, and severity of the symptoms. You can use the following home remedies to reduce pain and uncomfortable:
●    Sit in warm water (with some salt) for 10-15 minutes. You can do this in a bathtub or use a basin.
●    Pain medications-you can take over-the-counter drugs like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) to ease the pain.
●    Use a cold compress, i.e., an ice pack or a cold solid thing wrapped in a towel or a piece of cloth to reduce pain, inflammation, and swelling.
●    Using over-the-counter hemorrhoid cream like Witch Hazel solution to reduce inflammation and pain.
