What does the liver do?
The liver is the largest organ in an individual's body. It assists the digestion process as well as detoxifies metabolites, synthesizes proteins, etc. This organ is only found in vertebrates, on top of the stomach, right kidney, and intestines in the upper right region of the abdominal cavity, beneath the diaphragm.

Anatomy and structure
The liver is divided into two portions (lobes). Both have an eight-segment structure. A thousand tiny lobes make up the segments (lobules). Small ducts connect the lobules to form the common hepatic duct, which connects to larger ducts. Bile is transported from liver cells to the gallbladder and the first section of the small intestine via the common hepatic duct. Bile is a transparent yellow or orange fluid that aids in the digestion of meals.
Glisson's capsule is a fibrous covering that covers the liver. It is divided into two parts: a large right lobe and a smaller left lobe. On the visceral surface of the liver, there are two further 'accessory' lobes that emerge from the right lobe. The caudate lobe is positioned on the visceral surface's upper side. It's located in the middle of inferior vena cava and a fossa formed by the ligamentum venosum. The quadrate lobe is positioned on the visceral surface's lower side. The ligamentum teres produces a depression between the gallbladder and the ligamentum teres (a remnant of the foetal umbilical vein). The porta hepatis is a deep, transverse fissure that separates the caudate and quadrate lobes. Except for the hepatic veins, it transmits all arteries, nerves, and ducts entering or leaving the liver.

The liver is a key organ in the body that performs approximately 500 activities. Waste and foreign substances are eliminated from the bloodstream, blood sugar levels are controlled, and required nutrients are created. Additionally, the liver does the following jobs:
•    Controls bile, which aids in the removal of waste and the breakdown of fats in the small intestine during digestion.
•    Produces cholesterol and specific proteins to aid in the transport of fats throughout the body.
•    Converts glucose toglycogen and vice versa

•    Processes haemoglobin to make use of the iron that is contented in the liver.
•    Conducts the process of converting toxic ammonia to urea that is excreted in the. urine.
•    Helps in filtering  drugs and other toxic compounds from the blood
•    Controls blood clotting
•    Improves immunity and eliminates bacteria from the bloodstream to fight illnesses
•    Clears Bilirubin
