Hogwarts was established north of 1,000 years prior by four strong wizards: Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Helga Hufflepuff. They decided to divide the understudies into four 'houses', each bearing their last names and including youthful wizards and witches who showed capacities and characters they needed to sustain.
