What holiday is today

October 31, today is Halloween that brings out goblins, creatures, ghouls and strange creatures. People of all ages wait for this day not only in the US,but almost all around the world. People look forward to Halloween traditions. They dress and bake and carve pumpkins. Halloween festivities also include telling ghost stories and all kinds of mischief making.

Halloween actually means "holy evening" or "all saints day", which was celebrated in the 8th century probably to honour saints. The eve of this day was called as all hallows eve which soon came to be known as Halloween.

People go to church, and pray on this day. They also wear scary costumes and watch horror movies. Trick-or-treating and guising is a customary celebration on Halloween. Children go house to house in scary costumes and ask for treats, candies or money or they may ask questions about "trick or treat". Trick means "threat" of performing tricks on people who don't serve them with treats or candies or what they desire for. Halloween costumes are usually based on figures such as vampires, ghosts, skeletons, witches, devils, fictions, celebrities, ninjas and sometimes, princesses.

On this eve many Western Christians encourage abstinence from meat and just encourage vegetarian foods.

Traditions and practices of this day vary greatly among different countries. In some countries people celebrate by holding parties, bonfires etc. Children set candles inside skulls in graveyards to frighten the visitors. There may be different ways to celebrate this day but this day is equally enjoyed in most of the countries.

Halloween is one of the nation's favourite celebrations of the year! There are so many great Halloween movies for adults and kids, delicious foods and so much fun.

Also it has some dark and morbid traditions still it's the favourite time of year for many. Halloween celebrated today has evolved over many years as a blend of old ideas and customs and new traditions. Hallowesn in America is mostly celebrated by families dressing up , going to parties, some people also visit Haunted Houses, some carve pumpkins or gourds into jack-o-lanterns. Some decorate their homes jn dark, spooky fashion using props like fake spiders, webs bones and ghouls. It's all fun no matter in which way it's celebrated, it's just fun. It's all about kids going door to door exclaiming "trick-or-treat!" 

For some, this day has a superstitious nature and it creates a conflict with their religious convictions. Everyone has its own point of view and opinions. Many religious families even choose not to celebrate or attend any celebrations. These celebrations mostly are done in the fall season on ghouls and goblins, and making sure that no one is left out of fun because of their beliefs.

There are so many ways to make this day memorable because life is all about memories we have. You can start your day on a sweet note, carve pumpkins and it's a classic activity, have a scary movie to get in the Halloween mood, make a cocktail, wear your scary traditional costume, party hard, play Halloween music, have Halloween dinner, decorate your house and enjoy as much as you can as this day is gonna come after a whole year.
