What is a music key?
Music is usually played in a certain tone or key. So what does that mean? If we play a song in the “key” of D, that whole song will be based on a D-note or a D chord. The song has a certain “D” sound. That's because it uses the notes of a D-scale. This tonality or key is represented by the key signature. At the beginning of each line in written music is a group of sharp points for flats that tells us the key. This schedule shows which ones are associated with which keys. Note: A key is flat or sharp; it will never be both.
