What is a noun?

The term by which the name of a person, race, object, quality, deed, etc. is expressed is called a noun term.

Examples: Elephant, Horse, Gold, Iron, Bengali, Kolkata, Rabindranath, Bangladesh, India, Kindness, Maya, etc.

The Himalayas are located in the north of India.
Tigers live in the forest.
Righteousness is a sign of greatness.
The Bedouins are a formidable nation.
Among the above-mentioned sentences, 'India' is the name of the country, 'Himalayas' is the name of the mountain, 'Tiger' is the name of the animal, 'Sadhuta' is the name of the virtue, 'Bedouin' is the name of the nation. It expresses the name, so it is also called the name position.

Nouns can be divided into five parts.

Definitive noun

1. Definitive noun:
Rabindranath is called a poet.
The capital of Bangladesh is Dhaka.
Everest is the highest peak in the world.
In the above sentences, 'Rabindranath' specifies the name of the person, 'Bangladesh' the name of a country and 'Dhaka' the name of his capital, and 'Everest' the name of the mountain peak.

What is the noun term?
A noun term that specifies any name of a person, place, mountain, sea, river, animal, book, temple, mosque, country capital, newspaper, etc., is called a definite noun term. Such as -

Name of the person - Subhash Chandra, Rabindranath, Chittaranjan, Amartya, Shivashankar, Jesus etc.
Name of the place - Kolkata, Jhargram, Dhaka, Delhi, London etc.
Name of rivers - Ganges, Jamuna, Bhagirathi, Indus, Nile, Amazon etc.
Name of the sea - Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, etc.
Name of the newspaper - Anandabazar, Present, Nowadays, Everyday etc.
