Introduction
A personal computer (PC) is a digital computer designed for single-user operation. A typical home computer conglomeration includes a central processor (CPU), which is an embedded circuit component of the computer's mathematics, rationale, and regulated profession; 2 types of memory storage, memory unit, also including digital random-access memory (RAM), as well as auxiliary memory, including read-only memory (ROM) discs, special optical floppy disks, magnetic disk drives and compact optical special discs, or (CD-ROMs and DVD-ROMs); and various output and input devices, including a touchscreen display, mouse, printer, keyboard, speakers, joystick pen and others.
Parts of the PC (Personal Computer System)
The following components are commonly found in personal computers:
Case for a computer
electricity supply
Motherboard
Memory with random access (RAM)
Disk drive (s)
CD/DVD writers and drives
A graphical display, a keypad, a scanner, and a pointing device are all examples of external peripherals.
The Development of Personal Computer
There had been four developmental stages wherein PC had undergone. Computers occupied whole rooms in the mid-1960s and early 1970s and were only available to major institutions and businesses. Multiple people may connect to these early computers through associated terminals. All users had access to the same resources. The word PC gained popularity in the early 1980s, thanks to Time Magazine's selection of PC as Man of the Year in 1982. By the late 1980s, technology had progressed to the point that a single person could operate and possess a modest computer.
IBM entered the market in 1981 with the introduction of the IBM PC, the company's first personal computer. The IBM PC quickly became a market favourite. Only a few firms, notably Apple, were able to endure the popularity of IBM PCs, and the company remained a leader in the PC industry.
Later on, other manufacturers developed IBM clones in response to IBM's PC trend. Clones were PCs that had almost identical specifications as IBM PCs, but at a lesser cost. IBM gradually lost its supremacy in the PC market. Currently (as of 2011), PCs are mostly separated into two categories: Apple Macintoshes and PCs from other vendors.
The emergence of the Modern Computers
Small and affordable computers capable of being purchased by individuals for use in their houses had become conceivable in the 1970s, when huge integration enabled the construction of a reasonably strong processor on a single piece of silicon. The Altair, the first computer system, was created by a small company called MITS. In 1974, this device was created using Intel Company's 8080 CPU. Despite its popularity among computer enthusiasts, Altair's commercial potential was restricted.
Conclusion
By the year 2000, more than half of all American households had a windows pc, and this percentage grew substantially in the next few years as individuals in the United States (and throughout the world) bought PCs to access a great deal of information accessible on the Web.
The boundaries between computer systems and PCs in terms of calculation and video presentation started to diminish as the 2000s proceeded: PCs with multiple microcomputers became increasingly prevalent; multi-core microprocessors superseded single-core computer chips in the PC market; and high-end graphics processing cards, which are required to play the newest games consoles, became standard on all models.
