What is a podcast?

#podcasts The podcast is audio content, available via file or streaming. The advantage of the podcast is that it is an on-demand format; the user listens to it when they want to do it. It can be heard on various devices and this has helped to increase its popularity. Typically, the podcast addresses a specific subject to building a loyal audience.

Today, dynamic and accelerated urban life demands a lot from people. We are increasingly running out of time to perform our tasks. Every day we have less time to do more things.

This is also true when we talk about content consumption. Every day that passes, we have more content to consume and less time for that.

Podcast arrived to help make use of time available and increase daily productivity. This is possible due to the ease of just playing and listening to content; whether in the car, on the bus, in the gym, during lunch and so on.

At present, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is wise to listen to it at home, during a bath, while cooking food, when you do more “automatic” tasks. Who knows, if this is not, in fact, the ideal time to get used to consuming this content format and/ or start producing it for your company.

The podcast is like radio, but content is on-demand and can be listened to whenever the customer wants. Its format has a high communication power, which can transmit information, education, entertainment and more. That is, there are no limits to creativity.

In the past, you could only listen to content when visiting the providers' website and manually playing or downloading it to listen to it on the computer. But that wasn't the ideal way to listen to a podcast, because it was necessary for the internet user to reach the website.

This ended in 2004, when Adam Curry created an automatic way for that content to reach podcast shows: podcast aggregators. This is how it works to this day.
