What is a pronoun?

A pronoun is a noun that is used instead of a noun. For example, Nafisa is a girl's name so I can use She/her/hers pronouns instead of Nafisa in the sentence.

pronouns: any of a small set of words (such as I, she, he, you, it, we, or they) in a language that are used as substitutes for nouns or noun phrases and whose referents are named or understood in the sentence.

A pronoun is defined as a word or phrase that is used as a substitution for a noun or noun phrase, which is known as the pronoun’s antecedent. Pronouns are short words and can do everything that nouns can do and are one of the building blocks of a sentence.

Types of Pronoun.

1 Relative Pronoun
The pronouns which are used to connect two sentences or statements are called relative pronouns.
Example 1: the camera which I bought yesterday was defective.
Example 2: The man who came yesterday was a fraud.

2 Demonstrative Pronouns
The pronouns which describe a thing, place, or person are called demonstrative pronouns. They can be both singular and plural.
Example 1: These girls are beautiful.
Example 2: This laptop is very helpful.

3 Personal Pronouns
The pronouns which are placed as a substitute for people or things are called personal pronouns. These are of two types: subjective and objective. This means that the pronoun can act either as the subject or as the object of the sentence.
Example 1 :
Statement: Raju, Jyoti, Rohan, and Ananya were going to play football.
Replacing the nouns with Pronouns: They were going to play Football.
Example 2 :
Statement: Can you please go to the market with Akash?
Replacing the noun with Pronoun: Can you please go to the market with him?

4 Indefinite Pronouns
When the noun which is to be replaced does not have a fixed name or number, then such nouns are replaced by indefinite pronouns. These include few, everybody, everyone, all, some, etc.
Example 1: Everyone has reached the garden.
Example 2: You bring me some mangos.
